# Custom fields

> Extend leads, contacts, and products with customizable metadata attributes.

Custom fields allow your workspace to capture tailored business attributes beyond standard CRM properties. You can configure custom field definitions independently for Leads, Contacts, and Products.

## Supported field types

| Field type | Description | Permitted values / format |
| - | - | - |
| `text` | Short or long alphanumeric strings | Free-form string (such as job title or region) |
| `number` | Numerical values or quantities | Integer or floating-point number (such as deal size) |
| `date` | Calendar dates | ISO 8601 date string (`YYYY-MM-DD`) |
| `dropdown` | Single-select choice from configured options | String matching an element in `options` |
| `multi_select` | Multiple choices from configured options | Array of strings matching elements in `options` |

## Configuration rules

* **Options array**: Required when creating `dropdown` or `multi_select` fields.
* **Entity scoping**: Metadata definitions are scoped to their respective resource endpoints (`/leads/custom-fields`, `/contacts/custom-fields`, `/products/custom-fields`).
* **Unpaginated retrieval**: Listing custom fields returns the entire set of registered field definitions for the workspace in a single response.
